Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Episode Battles: How to Unlock Every Secret Alternate Path

Bandai Namco’s arena fighter offers expansive story branches that allow players to rewrite iconic anime lore. Our comprehensive walkthrough for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Episode Battles details how to trigger every secret alternate canon path, defeat punishing bosses like Great Ape Vegeta, and claim rare Shenron wish orbs.

Episode Battle Alternate Branch Fundamentals

Secondary Win Conditions: Alternate paths require defeating opponents within strict time limits (often under 2 to 3 minutes) or deflecting specific cinematic Super Attacks.
Difficulty Setting Note: Alternate branching cutscenes only unlock when playing on Standard Difficulty. Lowering difficulty disables secondary canon branches.
Spike the Sparking! Meter: Entering Sparking! Mode provides hyper armor and infinite Ki chaining, essential for melting high-health boss bars.

How to Beat Great Ape Vegeta in Goku’s Saga

Undoubtedly, the biggest roadblock confronting players in the Saiyan Saga is the battle against Great Ape Vegeta. Standard melee strikes bounce off his massive frame, and his command grabs deplete over half a health bar. Follow this tactical combat sequence to conquer him consistently:

Maintain Long Distance & Charge Ki: Never engage Great Ape Vegeta in extended ground hand-to-hand combos. Maintain maximum elevation and bait his slow mouth beam blast.
Vanish Step Behind the Beam: The instant Vegeta winds up his Super Explosive Wave, execute a forward High-Speed Vanish step (R1 + Direction) to teleport directly behind his tail.
Unload Fully Charged Kamehameha: Beam attacks bypass Great Ape super armor. Firing two fully charged Kamehamehas staggers him into a groggy knockdown animation.
Initiate Sparking! Dragon Dash Combo: Once staggered, activate Sparking! Mode and unleash continuous Dragon Smash chains followed by Spirit Bomb for massive critical damage.
