Warzone and MW3 Devs Unwrap New Anti-Cheat Measures

Warzone and MW3 Devs Unwrap New Anti-Cheat Measures for a Hacker-Free CODMAS

The festive season is upon us, and while players are enjoying the CODMAS event in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, the developers are tirelessly working to crack down on cheaters and maintain a fair and enjoyable gaming environment.

According to Call of Duty’s official X handle, since the introduction of Ricochet’s new anti-cheat features in November 2023, over 23,000 cheaters have been banned. With Machine Learning detections and the disruptive Splat feature implemented, developers are determined to keep the winter holidays free from hackers, making their statement clear:

“Cheaters get a lump of coal.”

The Code of Conduct and Machine Learning

Our investigation led us to speak with the developers at Warzone and MW3, who explained that the addition of Machine Learning allows them to analyze both client and server data more effectively than ever before. This proactive approach helps them identify new cheating behaviors and counter unusual activity. As cheating techniques continue to evolve, so does the developers’ capability to detect and punish cheaters.

Splat: A Creative Approach to Punish Cheaters

To further understand the developers’ efforts, we interviewed Ricochet experts who shared the unusual and creative techniques the Splat feature employs. By disabling parachutes or transforming a simple bunny hop into a sudden 10,000-foot drop, hackers are caught off guard and left frustrated. This tactic not only punishes cheaters but also sends a message to potential cheaters considering ruining the gaming experience for others.

Cheating Consequences: A Fair and Healthy Gaming Community

We also sought the opinion of gaming psychologists and experts, who highlighted the negative impact of cheating on game communities. Unchecked cheating can discourage honest players, provoke a decline in engagement, and ultimately hurt the gaming industry. Through their continued efforts, Warzone and MW3 developers are ensuring a fair competitive scene where the gaming community thrives.
