Dota 2 Treant Protector Guide: Master the Green Guardian

Treant Protector is a versatile Dota 2 hero with strong healing, harassing, and disabling abilities. As a strength-based melee hero, he excels in the early game with impressive base damage and evasion. In this guide, we’ll cover the basics of Treant Protector and provide in-depth tips and strategies for laning, countering, and item builds.

Abilities and Unique Mechanics

Treant Protector has six abilities, including one passive and a Scepter upgrade:

  1. Nature’s Grasp – Create a vine that slows enemies and deals damage. If the vine touches a tree, it deals 50% more damage. CD – 17 seconds at level 4.
  2. Leech Seed – Drain health and slow enemy heroes while healing allies near the affected enemy. CD – 12 seconds at level 4.
  3. Living Armor – A global ability that heals towers, buildings, and allied heroes while granting bonus armor. Armor bonus – 10 and CD – 15 seconds at level 4.
  4. Nature’s Guise – Gain bonus movement speed and invisibility while walking through trees undamaged for three seconds.
  5. Aghanim’s Shard – Become invisible after walking through trees and root enemies when exiting invisibility.
  6. Overgrowth – Root enemies in a certain range, preventing movement, attacks, and invisibility. Upgrade with Aghanim’s Scepter for Eyes in the Forest, enchanting trees for 800 vision radius and rooting enemies in view when using Overgrowth.

Remember, enemies can remove enchanted trees with Quelling Blade or other tree-cutting abilities.

Laning Phase and Harassing Enemies

During the laning phase, focus on securing farm and kills for your carry. Use Leech Seed to harass enemies and control the lane, and keep an eye on other lanes for opportunities to use Living Armor.

Deny creeps and create space for your core, using Nature’s Grasp to secure kills or escape. Don’t forget to collect Bounty Runes, Wisdom Runes, and Lotus Orbs, and use Nature’s Grasp to control the Lotus Pool area. Purchase Blood Grenade and Sentries to secure kills and prevent camp blocks.

Once you reach level 5, use Portal and gank other lanes, informing your partners of your plans. This can help you gain experience and alleviate pressure on your team.
