PGL for Inaugural Counter-Strike 2 Major Qualifiers 2023
Esports tournament platform Challengermode has been named the exclusive platform partner for the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major in Copenhagen, Denmark. This major partnership marks a significant milestone for Challengermode, as it aims to solidify itself as a vital infrastructure provider within the esports community.
Founded in 2014, Challengermode is a leading online esports platform specializing in hosting various tournaments, enabling gamers worldwide to compete for cash and prizes. The platform has continuously expanded its partnership portfolio, including a recent collaboration with International Esports Federation (IESF) as the exclusive partner for the 2023 Esports World Championship.
In this new partnership, Challengermode will organize all Open Qualifiers, Regional Major Rankings (RMR), and the Copenhagen event through its platform. Teams will be able to register for various open qualifiers starting early January 2024. According to Robel Efrem, CEO at Challengermode, “Our collaboration with PGL is a strong affirmation of the robustness and scalability of our technology. It’s more than just hosting a Counter-Strike 2 Major; it’s about equipping the esports community with the tools to craft unforgettable stories and create lasting memories for everyone involved.”
PGL, an esteemed esports event organizer, has a proven track record of hosting world-class esports events. Among them, the most popular CS:GO tournament of all time is the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, with a peak audience of 2.75 million viewers, as per Esports Charts. The latest collaboration between Challengermode and PGL is set to take the esports community by storm, as Counter-Strike 2 is officially replacing CS:GO in Valve-sponsored esports tournaments starting 2024.
PGL has already announced the three official locations for RMRs: Bucharest (Romania) for Europe, Shanghai (China) for Asia, and Monterrey (Mexico) for the Americas. The tournaments will be held online without a live audience. The top teams of the RMRs will secure a spot at the PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major, taking place at the Royal Arena in the Danish capital from March 17th to 31st. Competing teams will have a chance to claim their share of the impressive $1.25m (~£992,900) prize pool.
This unprecedented partnership between Challengermode and PGL aims to elevate the esports ecosystem, making it an exciting time for both companies and esports enthusiasts worldwide. With the Copenhagen Major fast approaching, it is bound to put Counter-Strike 2’s potential to the test and set new standards for the esports community at large.
