Quarterfinals Match Recap: Dominance, Heartbreak & 5-Game Thrillers
Each quarterfinal fixture told a distinct tactical story, showcasing patch 14.20’s evolving meta where objective Voidgrub setups and late-game Elder Dragon control determined every series:
- T1 vs Top Esports (3-0 Sweep): In what was billed as a titanic LCK-LPL clash, Faker and T1 delivered a flawless tactical clinic. Zeus completely shut down 369 in the top lane with pocket Gragas counter-picks, while Gumayusi’s Caitlyn recorded zero deaths across the entire 82-minute series.
- Gen.G vs FlyQuest (3-2 Nail-Biter): North America’s LCS champions FlyQuest pushed tournament favorites Gen.G to the absolute brink, shocking the world with innovative pocket picks including Nunu jungle and Seraphine mid. Ultimately, Chovy’s clutch Smolder scaling in Game 5 halted the upset.
- Bilibili Gaming vs Hanwha Life Esports (3-1): LPL first seed BLG dismantled LCK champions HLE through sheer mechanical brutality. Bin’s Jax split-pushing tore open side-lanes while Knight out-dueled Zeka in decisive Baron river skirmishes.
- Weibo Gaming vs LNG Esports (3-2): In an all-LPL grudge match, Daeny’s WBG squad once again proved their knockout stage resilience, coming back from a 1-2 deficit behind Tarzan’s masterclass Sejuani engagements.
