2. Three New Sprites Added to Override

Sprites are the companion creatures that power the core Override season mechanic. Version 42.10 adds three brand-new ones to the pool:

Sprite NameAbilityHow to Obtain
X-Ray SpriteTemporarily see through walls and solid objectsFound in Sprite Altars across the map
Onigiri SpriteDesign-a-Sprite contest winner — restores a small amount of health over timeLooted from standard chests (rare)
Unknown SpriteOriginal Epic Games design — scrambles enemy mini-maps temporarilyPurchased from the new Sprite Vendor NPC

The X-Ray Sprite is immediately the most powerful addition this season. Being able to see enemy positions through walls completely changes how you approach building defenses in the final circle.

3. Six New Loot Hacks & Weapons

Loot Hacks are the Override season’s method of customizing your loadout mid-match. Six new ones arrive with v42.10:

  • Rocket Ram — A shoulder-mounted rocket that deals massive structural damage. Perfect for destroying enemy builds in box fights.
  • Golden Banana — A throwable item. When eaten, it instantly grants one level of the Override charge, boosting your current Sprite’s power.
  • Tracking Visor — Equipping this tags the nearest enemy player through obstacles for 8 seconds.
  • Holo Twister Assault Rifle — A new energy-based AR with a unique spinning projectile trajectory.
  • Deadeye Assault Rifle — A precision AR with a tighter bloom than the standard M4, designed for medium-to-long range.
  • Wrecker Revolver — A high-damage, low-fire-rate sidearm that deals bonus damage to shields.

All six of these weapons are obtainable using Sprite Dust at Loot Hack terminals located in every named location.

4. Prop Hunt & Big Heads Are Back

Two fan-favourite Limited Time Modes (LTMs) return as part of the v42.10 update:

  • Prop Hunt: Players on the “Prop” team can disguise themselves as any object in the environment (barrels, chairs, trees). The “Hunter” team must find and eliminate all Props before the timer runs out. Available now in the Arcade tab.
  • Big Heads: A returning April Fool’s mode where every player character has a comically oversized head. All competitive mechanics remain identical — it is purely cosmetic comedy chaos.

5. Fortnite OG Season X: All New Skins

The biggest surprise of v42.10 is the simultaneous launch of Fortnite OG Season X — a bonus throwback Battle Pass featuring remixed versions of iconic original-era skins:

Skin NameOriginal SkinType
Ultima Knight RemixUltima KnightLegendary
Female X-Lord RemixX-LordEpic
Catalyst RemixCatalystEpic

The OG Season X Battle Pass is purchased separately from the standard Override Battle Pass. It costs 950 V-Bucks and contains 50 levels of rewards.

🛡️ EXPERT TIP: FASTEST WAY TO EARN SPRITE DUST

You need Sprite Dust to unlock every new weapon in the Loot Hack terminals. Here is the fastest farming method.

Do NOT try to farm Sprite Dust in standard Battle Royale. The respawn timers on Sprite Altars are too long. Instead, load into the new Prop Hunt LTM. Sprite Altars in Prop Hunt are marked on the mini-map and respawn every 60 seconds (3x faster than Battle Royale). In a single 20-minute Prop Hunt match, an active player can farm enough Sprite Dust to unlock all six new Loot Hack weapons simultaneously. Land on a Sprite Altar, collect, rotate to the next one, and repeat.
