Shopify Rebellion Triumphs in Thrilling 2023 VCT Game Changers Championship Victory

In an exhilarating display of skill and determination, Shopify Rebellion emerged victorious in the grand finals of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: Game Changers Championship. Shopify Rebellion secured the win over Team Liquid Brazil with an impressive 3-2 score, capturing the title of 2023 VCT Gamechangers Champion.

A Battle of Giants

Team Liquid Brazil entered the tournament with the support of a passionate São Paulo crowd, but the home field advantage wasn’t enough to overcome G2 Gozen in the first round. Undeterred, Team Liquid Brazil regrouped and won four consecutive matches in the lower bracket, including a satisfying 2-0 revenge win over G2 Gozen, earning their spot in the grand finals.

Shopify Rebellion boasted an impressive track record, having only dropped a single map on their way to the grand finals. Despite in-game leader Melanie “meL” Capone playing from an isolated room due to a positive COVID-19 test, Shopify Rebellion remained laser-focused on their goal – to be crowned the 2023 VCT Gamechangers Champions.

High Stakes and High Scores

The grand finals series kicked off with an intense overtime on Haven, which eventually saw Shopify Rebellion secure the win 14-12. Team Liquid Brazil refused to fold, making a stunning comeback on Lotus – after being down 10-4, they rallied to win a remarkable 10 of the next 11 rounds, tying the series 1-1 with a 13-11 victory.

Shopify Rebellion showcased their dominance on Breeze, taking the map with a decisive 13-5 score and moving the series to match point. Once again, Team Liquid Brazil matched them stride for stride – they claimed Sunset with a 13-7 win.

The final map, Ascent, was an epic battle that concluded with Shopify Rebellion taking the championship with a crushing 13-6 win.

Standout Performances

Despite meL’s status as the best player in Gamechangers, the true hero of Shopify Rebellion’s victory was none other than Ava “florescent” Eugene. The Canadian sharpshooter shattered VCT Gamechangers records for the most kills in a single map and the most kills at a GameChangers Championship LAN event. In a fitting end, florescent secured the final kill against Team Liquid Brazil’s Letícia “joojina” Paiva, earning her the well-deserved finals MVP title for her stunning 112-kill performance.

Post-Match Reflections

When asked about the team’s performance, an ecstatic Ava “florescent” Eugene said, “I’m incredibly proud of our team. We all worked hard for this, and it truly shows in our gameplay. Melanie [meL] showed exceptional leadership even from an isolated room, and it just goes to show that we can overcome any challenge as a team.”

Team Liquid Brazil’s Letícia “joojina” Paiva reflected on the grand finals, saying, “We fought hard, and while we didn’t come out on top, the experience we gained in this championship will only make us stronger in the future. Shopify Rebellion were amazing opponents, and we congratulate them on their well-earned victory.”
