1. Tournament Dates & Venues

Riot Games is pulling out all the stops for their massive Chinese fanbase, splitting the tournament across two legendary venues in Shanghai.

  • Group Stage & Early Bracket (Sept 24 – Oct 11): These matches will be held at the Jing’an Sports Center. This smaller, highly intimate venue is designed to give the early matches a chaotic, high-energy atmosphere.
  • The Finals Weekend (Oct 16 – Oct 18): The final three days of the tournament will move to the massive Mercedes-Benz Arena in Pudong, offering a world-class stadium experience for the Grand Final.

2. The Strict Ticketing System

If you want to attend in person, you cannot just buy a ticket off a reseller website. Main ticket sales officially began on September 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM CST, and Riot has implemented severe anti-scalping measures.

  • Real-Name System: The event strictly utilizes a “real-name” ticketing system. International fans must purchase their tickets through the official MAISEAT platform.
  • No Resales: Tickets are permanently locked to the buyer and are completely non-transferable.
  • Entry Requirements: International attendees must present their physical, valid passport at the door of the arena. If the name on the passport does not perfectly match the name on the digital ticket, you will be denied entry without a refund.

3. The 16-Team Format

The tournament features 16 elite teams representing the four major VCT territories: Americas, EMEA, Pacific, and VCT China.

  • Qualification: Teams secured their spots based on their performance in the recent Stage 2 playoffs and their total accumulated Championship Points throughout the 2026 season.
  • The Bracket: The event kicks off with a GSL-style Group Stage (four groups of four). The top two teams from each group will advance to a brutal, 8-team double-elimination bracket to determine the World Champion.

4. Qualified Teams

Eleven of the sixteen teams have officially secured their spots, while the remaining five slots will be determined during the final regional playoff matches concluding on September 6. [1]

🛡️ INDUSTRY IMPACT: THE CHINESE META

Will a Chinese team win on home soil?

The inclusion of VCT China as a fully franchised region has completely disrupted the global Valorant ecosystem. Chinese teams (like EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix) play a hyper-aggressive, mechanically heavy style that disregards traditional slow-paced defaults. Western teams (Americas and EMEA) historically struggle against this chaotic “W-Gaming” style during international LANs. With the deafening roar of the Mercedes-Benz Arena backing them, the Chinese rosters possess a massive psychological advantage that could easily propel them to their first-ever World Championship trophy.
