Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Pre-Load & Launch Guide: Download Sizes, Day-One Game Pass & PC Specs

Activision and Treyarch are gearing up for the global launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, marking the first time in franchise history that a mainline Call of Duty title arrives on Xbox Game Pass on day one. With innovative Omnimovement mechanics, a spy-thriller Cold War campaign, and round-based Zombies returning, pre-load windows and storage preparation have become top priorities for millions of players.

Pre-Load Schedule & Platform Availability

Pre-loading begins across all platforms 48 hours prior to official regional servers going live. Players with active pre-orders or qualifying Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions can begin pre-installing the base game, campaign packs, multiplayer modules, and Zombies content.

  • PC Pre-Load (Battle.net & Steam): Begins October 21 at 9:00 AM PT.
  • Console Pre-Load (PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X/S): Pre-loading unlocks simultaneously on October 21 with automatic background download for digital pre-orders.
  • Xbox Game Pass Day-One Launch: Subscribers on PC and Xbox console can install through the Xbox app at zero additional software cost.

Storage Footprint: The Call of Duty HQ Restructure

Following community feedback regarding massive file footprints, Activision restructured the Call of Duty launcher. Players can now selectively install only the modes they intend to play, significantly trimming storage demands:

Installation Package PC (Battle.net / Steam) PlayStation 5 Xbox Series X/S
Multiplayer & Zombies Only ~78 GB ~68 GB ~74 GB
Full Game (Campaign + MP + Zombies) ~128 GB ~115 GB ~122 GB

Omnimovement: Redefining Competitive Gunplay

The centerpiece of Black Ops 6 is Omnimovement—a fluid traversal system allowing players to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction (forward, backward, and sideways) seamlessly. Coupled with Supine Prone (the ability to rotate 360 degrees while lying down), competitive firefights resemble choreographed Hollywood action sequences.

Treyarch also introduced Intelligent Movement settings, which automate mantle, crouch assist, and corner-slicing for players wanting to minimize input complexity on gamepads.

Editions Breakdown & Pre-Order Bonuses

Players choosing between editions can select the Standard Cross-Gen Bundle ($69.99) or upgrade to the Vault Edition ($99.99), which includes the Hunters vs Hunted Operator Pack (4 Operator skins including Adler and Park), Mastercraft Weapon Collection (5 custom animated blueprints), and BlackCell Season 1 Battle Pass.
