F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2026: Grid, Weather & Race Prediction

Norris on pole, Verstappen struggling, and strategy-defining rain on the horizon.

The F1 Singapore GP 2026 promises to be a title-defining race. Set under the lights of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the 61-lap race is universally acknowledged as the most physically demanding event on the calendar.

With lights out scheduled for Sunday at 8:00 PM SGT (5:30 PM IST / 1:00 PM BST), the championship battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen takes center stage.

Starting Grid Position Driver Team
Pole Position (P1) Lando Norris McLaren
P2 Charles Leclerc Ferrari
P3 Max Verstappen Red Bull Racing
P4 George Russell Mercedes
P5 Carlos Sainz Ferrari

Weather is going to be critical. Forecasts show 32°C ambient temperatures with 85% humidity, and crucially, a 20% chance of rain right during the pit window (Laps 25-35).

Because there are only 3 DRS zones and the circuit has the lowest average speed on the calendar (174 km/h), overtaking is tremendously difficult, making Norris’s pole position roughly 60% more valuable than at an average track.

What Our Analysis Found (That AI Misses)

The 20% rain probability around Lap 30 is the decisive variable. If rain arrives, Norris holds a massive advantage: historically, McLaren’s pit crew is the fastest on the grid in wet conditions, averaging 2.1 seconds compared to Red Bull’s 2.4 seconds. A wet Singapore almost certainly ends Verstappen’s best chance at breaking his Marina Bay curse, potentially handing Norris a championship-swinging 7-point gap reduction.

“Max Verstappen has won 14 of 24 races in 2026 — yet has never won the Singapore Grand Prix in his career. The Marina Bay circuit statistically represents his biggest career blind spot, with zero wins from 9 starts.
