- 💡 Expert Tip: Combat Strategy
Step 1: Getting the Loong Scales
Before you can fight any of the secret dragons, you must obtain a key item called the ‘Loong Scales.’
- Progress to Chapter 2 and defeat the massive First Prince of Flowing Sands boss.
- During the fight, bait the boss into charging into the large, cracked decorative wall in the arena. If you already killed the boss, you can use the Wandering Wight spirit attack to smash the wall yourself.
- Walk through the crack to find a secret treasure chest containing the Loong Scales.
Chapter 1: The Red Loong
Now that you have the scales, you must backtrack to Chapter 1 to fight the first secret boss.
- Location: Fast travel to the ‘Outside the Forest’ Keeper’s Shrine in the Black Wind Mountain.
- The Path: Walk to the left side of the forest until you find a massive waterfall. Because you have the Loong Scales in your inventory, you will now get a prompt to interact with the waterfall. The water will part, revealing the arena for the Red Loong. He relies heavily on massive AoE lightning strikes.
Chapter 2: The Black Loong
The second dragon is hidden exceptionally well within the sandy dunes of Chapter 2.
- Location: Fast travel to the ‘Fright Cliff – Rockrest Flat’ Keeper’s Shrine.
- The Path: Immediately turn to your right. You will see a large staircase leading up to a massive sand waterfall. Interact with the sand to reveal the boss arena. The Black Loong utilizes dual maces that send devastating shockwaves through the ground.
Chapter 3: The Cyan Loong
The third dragon is located in the snowy, treacherous third chapter of the game.
- Location: Fast travel to the ‘Bitter Lake – Turtle Island’ Keeper’s Shrine.
- The Path: Walk to the far right side of the massive turtle shell you are standing on. You will see what looks like a frozen, petrified dragon sitting at the edge of the cliff. Approach the statue and interact with it to initiate the Cyan Loong boss fight. Be warned, this dragon uses extremely fast sword-dash mechanics that can one-shot you if you miss your perfect dodge.
🛡️ EXPERT TIP: BEATING THE DRAGONS
Are the Loong bosses killing you too fast?
The secret Loong bosses are significantly harder than the standard Chapter bosses. The absolute best strategy for defeating them is to upgrade your ‘Pluck of Many’ spell. This spell summons multiple monkey clones to fight alongside you. If you wait to cast this spell until the boss is at 50% health, and then combine it with the ‘Immobilize’ spell, your clones will absolutely shred the remaining health bar of the dragon before it can trigger its devastating Phase 2 lightning attacks.
